Ridge to Rivers

Wet spring weather in Boise is creating muddy conditions within the Ridge to Rivers Trail System. Showers are expected through the upcoming weekend, which can result in muddy and poor conditions that often lead to long-term damage if used continuously by hikers and bikers. Please seek out alternative places to recreate in the coming days, like the Boise River Greenbelt or paved pathways in your local park. Using trails when they are muddy is the leading cause of trail damage throughout the Ridge to Rivers system. If you start leaving muddy tracks, please turn back!

HAWKINS RANGE RESERVE CLOSURE

Due to muddy conditions, access to Hawkins Range Reserve's two directional trails will be temporarily closed starting Friday, May 3 to protect the trail tread. While trail crew members worked to open the seasonally accessible reserve located off Bogus Basin Road on May 1, trail conditions are deteriorating and there are long stretches of mud along both Hawkins Loop and Harrow Trail. For this reason, the gate at the trailhead entrance will be locked ahead of the weekend. Once trail conditions improve and a re-opening date for Hawkins Range Reserve is determined, it will be posted on the Ridge to Rivers Facebook page and website. Thank you for staying out of closed areas and doing your part to protect the integrity of the trail tread.
